Assistant Professor of U.S. Constitutional Law and Legal History
Job Description
The Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy at the University of Missouri invites applications for an interdisciplinary, assistant professor tenure‑track position in U.S. Constitutional Law and Legal History. The position is located on the Columbia campus, within the College of Arts and Science and the Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy. Candidates from history, political science, or joint JD/PhDs are encouraged to apply;
all applicants must hold a PhD by August 1, 2026. Depending on their expertise, the holder will have an academic home in either the Department of History or the Truman School of Government and Public Affairs. The search committee seeks scholars whose research and teaching focus on the constitutional development, public law, and legal history of the United States during 1750‑1865. A willingness to contribute to student programs at the Kinder Institute is required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in History or Political Science by time of appointment.
Candidates will be evaluated on:
- Established research trajectory commensurate with career stage.
- College‑level teaching experience.
