We are a lively student-centered and supportive program that’s distinguished for fostering future scholars, our work in math education, and expertise in the application of mathematical principles to environmental sciences. We offer three pathways towards a Bachelor’s of Arts in Mathematics (Mathematics, Mathematics with a concertation in Applied Mathematics, and Mathematics with a concentration in Math Education) as well as three minors (Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Applied Statistics).
At Cal Poly Humboldt, our curriculum is rigorous yet flexible with a focus on hands‑on learning. We help our students to develop basic analytical skills and help to sharpen their ability to think logically, work with abstract ideas, and recognize patterns and structures. Our students will graduate with marketable skills in communication, technical skills, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
Courses offered by the department include:
College Algebra, Trigonometry, Finite Math, Calculus, Critical Thinking in Mathematics, Elements of Linear Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, Vector Calculus, Ordinary Differential Equations, Partial Differential Equations, Elementary Statistics, Sampling Design and Analysis, and Directed Study. M.A. or M.S. in a mathematical science with successful teaching experience/or recent professional practice is required. For Statistics courses, a M.A. or M.S. in a field with strong statistical application will be considered. A Ph.D.; and successful teaching experience within the last 5 years is preferred.
Position Type: Lecturer Availability: As needed First Review Date: Applications received by April 1st annually are given first consideration. Early response is encouraged.
Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience.
The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:

. The full‑time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.

Cal Poly Humboldt sits on the traditional homelands of the Wiyot people in what is currently called Arcata, CA. The Wiyot people call the area Goudi’ni (over in the woods). The Cal Poly Humboldt campus in Northern California is in close proximity to several thriving Native American tribes and communities. Humboldt currently has the largest percentage of Native American students in the CSU system and has over 30 Native American faculty and staff, many from local area California Indian tribes.
Cal Poly Humboldt is home to a number of leading Native American programs including the Indian Tribal Education and Personnel Program (ITEPP) and the Indian Natural Resource, Science and Engineering Program (INRSEP).
