School Psychologist – SR‑24 (Leeward District)

Providing psycho‑educational services to students in various schools of the Leeward District as assigned.

Salary Range: $5,918.00 – $7,198.00.

• Provide educational personnel, parents and families with psycho‑educational services to enhance students’ mental health, behavior, personality, social competence, and academic status, including individual or group assessments, behavior management plans, classroom interventions, counseling sessions, and support services.
• Design and develop procedures that promote psychological well‑being and facilitate learning.
• Plan skill‑enhancing activities and in‑service training, parent education.
• Establish collaborative relationships with school personnel for service provision and program evaluation.
• Consult and collaborate with parents, students and school personnel in developing services for students’ educational or mental‑health needs.
• Advise school personnel on behavioral, social, and emotional concerns.
• Counsel families in collaboration with school counselors.
• Participate in planning and implementation of crisis intervention services.
• Advise on psycho‑educational instruments for special‑needs students.
• Plan, coordinate and arrange in‑service training for school personnel in pre‑referral interventions, teacher‑assistant team strategies, screening, evaluation, and functional behavior analyses.
• Monitor identification and evaluation components for students with special needs per state and federal regulations.
• Advise on assessment procedures.
• Advise on accountability systems and outcome evaluation for interventions.
• Conduct school‑needs surveys and screen students for adjustment problems.
• Assist administration in assessing program effectiveness and preparing due‑process materials.
• Provide technical/clinical consultation to examiners, counselors, or social workers.
• Represent the department in administrative or court hearings.

• Master’s degree in school psychology (or related field) from a regionally accredited institution and a 1,200‑hour internship (600 hours in an elementary, middle, or secondary school setting), or
• Master’s degree in educational or counseling psychology with required coursework and internship, or
• Current school psychologist license/certification issued by another state, or
• Current Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) certification from NASP.

Knowledge of
: role and function of school psychologists, child and adolescent development, exceptionalities, learning theories, counseling, psycho‑educational testing, legal and ethical issues, state and federal regulations.

Ability to
: implement school psychological services, apply theory to practice, collaborate as a team member, organize and manage time, develop relationships, prepare reports, communicate effectively, and pursue professional development.

Some positions require a current, valid driver’s license.
