Position Summary

The Regional Admissions Recruiter is responsible for recruiting and admitting students from Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Based in the region, the recruiter travels extensively to build relationships with schools and organizations, develop a pipeline of prospective students, and represent Humboldt at various events. The role involves sharing detailed information about the university, conducting admissions presentations and counseling, evaluating transcripts, and supporting recruitment programs targeting specific populations.

The recruiter also manages daily admissions tasks remotely and occasionally travels to other regions and the main campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • 45% – Student Recruitment & Outreach:
    In‑field representation at school visits and college fairs, presentations, panels, and trade‑style events using branded materials; direct outreach to prospective students, applicants, and influencers via phone, email, SMS, and handwritten notes.
  • 15% – Admissions Events:
    Planning, organizing, and participating in recruitment events such as in‑market events, roadshows, individual meetings, and on‑campus programs; event set‑up, execution, and follow‑up, working evenings and weekends as needed.
  • 10% – Applicant Support & Counseling:
    Assisting students and families with admissions inquiries via phone, email, and in‑person interactions; requires consistent internet access and familiarity with admissions systems; works evenings and weekends as needed.
  • 15% – Applicant Review & Evaluation:
    Reviewing and evaluating applications and academic transcripts in accordance with CSU and Humboldt‑specific admissions criteria; requires accuracy and timeliness.
  • 10% – Reporting & Training:
    Participating in regular metrics tracking, admissions reporting, business reviews, and professional development/training sessions.
  • 5% – Other Duties as Assigned:
    May include supporting additional programs or special projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of the practices, procedures, and activities of the program to which assigned.
  • General knowledge of organizational and program management methods and problems.
  • General knowledge of research and interview techniques, and principles of individual and group behavior.
  • Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations.
  • Ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and implementing long‑range program improvements.
  • Ability to reason logically and analyze data.
  • Ability to advise students individually and in groups on routine matters; recognize multicultural and multi‑aged value systems and work accordingly.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, administrators, student organizations, private and public agencies, and community contacts.
  • Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the overall operation, functions, and programs of the campus to which assigned.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and carry through actions having implications for other program or service areas.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Two years of relevant professional experience in market management, sales, student services, or a related field; a Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License.
