The Health Information Management Department is seeking a physician chart specialist to help with the day-to-day operations of the department. The physician chart specialist will work under the Assistant Director and should be qualified to perform tasks such as, but not limited to, pulling a physician's incomplete charts for physician completion; updating charts after physicians have completed their work and dictation has been done;
placing dictation on incomplete charts once entered into the charts' deficiency system; document number of delinquent charts; forwarding reminder letters to physicians informing them of their status regarding the impending suspension from the medical staff due to delinquent medical records, and making appropriate follow-up calls; file each day's discharges on the incomplete chart shelves; remove physicians from the chart deficiency system after they have completed their deficiencies;
retrieve and file medical records utilizing proper out guide protocol; answer telephone request; and other duties commensurate with their ability as requested by their supervisor while maintaining a working relationship with all personnel in the Health Information Management Department as well as physicians and other departments with whom he/she must come in contact with. The individual should have good social skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred but not required. Upon hiring, the employee must complete the required hospital orientation before beginning work in the department.
