Under the supervision of the Chief Psychiatrist, the Senior Psychiatrist Supervisor provides general supervision of Staff Psychiatrists and other mental health staff; directs specialized psychiatric assessment/treatment programs; participates in the hiring of new Psychiatrists; provides consultation regarding clinical issues to custodial staff; performs special assignments as requested by the Chief Psychiatrist.
Responsibilities- Provide general supervision of Staff Psychiatrists and other mental health staff.
- Direct specialized psychiatric assessment/treatment programs.
- Participate in the hiring of new Psychiatrists.
- Provide consultation regarding clinical issues to custodial staff.
- Perform special assignments as requested by the Chief Psychiatrist.
- Legal licensure to practice medicine in California.
- Valid certificate in psychiatry issued by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, OR completion of a residency accredited by the ACGME or AOA with two years of post‑residency experience in a correctional facility or psychiatric inpatient/outpatient setting.
- Preference for candidates with a broad‑based clinical year in an ACGME or AOA accredited training program in internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, or a transitional year program including at least four months of primary care.
- Ability to provide and supervise mental health care within a correctional setting.
