The Designer is responsible for producing high‑quality design deliverables, including detailed construction documents. This role supports all phases of the project lifecycle—Pre‑Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration.
The Designer will collaborate closely with the Director, Principal, or Associate Principal, ensuring that assigned tasks and deliverables meet project schedules, budget expectations, and PBK’s standards for design excellence and client service.
Your Impact- Develop innovative concepts and fresh design ideas that align with client requirements.
- Participate in—and when needed, lead—design charrettes with clients and PBK team members.
- Create initial design concepts and guide their development through all phases of the design process.
- Prepare concept design, schematic design, and design development packages.
- Effectively present ideas and design solutions to clients and internal PBK teams.
- Collaborate closely with Design Leadership to determine project format, drawing responsibilities, deliverables, and schedules.
- Serve as a bridge between the conceptual design vision and its architectural execution.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of interior finishes, materials, and current design trends.
- Supervise and mentor teams of Architectural Designers assigned to project teams.
- Hold both the team and individual contributors accountable for meeting commitments and project expectations.
- 5–10 years of design experience required; experience in K–12, Higher Education, or large-scale Commercial projects preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture required.
- LEED accreditation strongly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Photoshop, Sketch Up, InDesign, Lumion, and AutoCAD required;
Revit proficiency is a plus. - Hand sketching skills preferred.
- Strong commitment to exceptional client service.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and adjust to shifting deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership, external clients, and vendors.
- Highly self‑motivated and dedicated to producing quality work.
- Thrives in a collaborative design team environment and works well with senior management.
- Possesses outstanding interpersonal skills.
Salary: $59,977.00 - $89,966.00 (California locations). The actual offered base salary will vary depending on qualification factors. The package may also include incentive compensation and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
