Avsar Construction is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and oversee design activities for large‑scale capital improvement, modernization, and critical repair projects. This role serves as the lead design professional, ensuring high‑quality design delivery while aligning projects with functional, budgetary, regulatory, and environmental requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and direct all design activities for upgrade, modernization, and critical repair projects.
- Serve as the lead design professional within the Design Department, providing quality control, policy implementation, and procedural oversight.
- Manage and coordinate the end‑to‑end design process to ensure compliance with programmatic, budgetary, environmental, and legal requirements.
- Oversee multiple projects by coordinating with architects, consultants, and internal stakeholders from concept development through final design approval and transition to project execution.
- Guide and manage the building design process to ensure compliance with applicable standards, codes, and guidelines.
- Establish and implement a structured process for selecting architectural firms based on qualifications, performance history, and project needs.
- Provide clear and consistent direction to architects and consultants regarding project goals, scope, schedule, budget, and site requirements.
- Develop and manage an efficient design review process to ensure designs meet functional objectives, deliver long‑term value, and remain within approved budgets.
- Ensure timely decision‑making throughout the design lifecycle to maintain project schedules.
- Review and approve design changes to confirm alignment with budget, scope, and project objectives.
- Maintain complete and accurate project documentation in compliance with legal and contractual requirements.
- Participate in community outreach and stakeholder engagement efforts to promote understanding and acceptance of project designs.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and departments to align design activities with operational, environmental, health and safety, and maintenance considerations.
- Promote continuous learning by supporting professional development opportunities such as seminars and workshops related to design and construction best practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum 10 years of full‑time professional experience managing facilities design or capital project planning and coordination, including design oversight, contract administration, cost estimating, and scheduling.
- At least 5 years of experience working on educational facilities or comparable public‑sector or institutional projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Active Architect License issued by a State Architectural Board, or
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license issued by the appropriate state licensing authority.
