M. Designs Architects is an award-winning architectural firm, with headquarters located in theheart of Silicon Valley, California, with US offices in Lake Tahoe, Palm Springs and San Francisco. Our portfolio includes sustainable high-end custom homes, multi-unit residences,educational, mixed use and commercial projects.
We are looking for a Sr. Architect to lead our office in Karachi, Pakistan.
Overview: M Designs is seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Architect to oversee the operations of our Pakistan office. This individual will be responsible for managing clients in the United States and in Asia and will also be managing a multidisciplinary team comprising of the production team, interior design team, architectural team and 3-D visualization team. The Lead Architect will work closely with the USA office, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, ontime, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Management:
o Independently manage the Pakistan office team, including scheduling, workflow optimization, staff training, hiring, and recruitment.
o Supervise the teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and high-quality output.
o Help with the team growth in Pakistan - Project Coordination:
o Collaborate with the USA Head Office, consultants, and vendors (including
Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Engineers, Lighting consultants, Landscape Architects, and Civil consultants) to ensure smooth integration ofdesign and material specifications.
o Plan and direct various project phases, assisting Principal Architects in keeping the team organized and productive. - Design and Technical Oversight:
o Oversee the preparation of detailed architectural drawings and construction plans using Revit.
o Ensure construction documents and design details comply with US codes and best practices, with a strong emphasis on California building codes and ordinances.
o Review calculations, square footage estimates, zoning requirements, city ordinance compliance, and completed project reports. - Scheduling and Budget Management:
o Develop project design budgets and schedules for the Pakistan office staff in alignment with the USA Head Office.
o Coordinate with architects, drafters, and consultants to meet project deliverable sand timelines. - Quality Control:
o Supervise technical work produced by the office team, reviewing architectural drawings for accuracy and quality control.
o Assure staff efficiency by distributing work evenly and synchronizing schedules with the USA office.
Qualifications:
- Required:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture from a USA-accredited institution. - Preferred:
Some work experience in the USA, with a strong understanding of California building codes and regulations a plus. - Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English.
- Proven leadership skills and experience in managing teams across multiple disciplines.
Skill sets required:
- Knowledge in production and detailing of construction document
- Proficiency in Revit with 5+ years of experience a must
- Experience in AutoCAD, Sketchup, MS Office (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel)
- 15+ years of experience within an Architectural or Design firm as a Project Architect orJob Captain
- Ability to direct, mentor, and coordinate work efforts of project team
- Comfortable in support role and possess ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Experience in project coordination, including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultants
- Knowledge of California building codes, standards and building structure
