Job Summary
The Dental Insurance Coordinator supports the CDM clinical enterprise by acting as a liaison between patients, students, staff, faculty, and insurance providers. This role is primarily responsible for coordinating Patient Care Coordinators, Dental Insurance Biller and other key personnel on matters related to Denti-Cal and private insurance plans and assisting with the resolution of insurance-related issues.
The Dental Insurance Coordinator also assists with verifying dental insurance benefits and supports accurate and timely processing of insurance claims and maintains up-to-date patient insurance records to support efficient clinic operations.

Skills and Abilities
Individuals must possess the knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Experience in the policies and procedures of a multi-provider dental practice, preferably within a dental school environment.
- Dental services billing experience with knowledge of billing for Denti-Cal & private insurance companies.
- Experience in working in an electronic health record and electronic billing.
- Must have working knowledge of the laws governing billing and collections efforts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively interact with health care professionals, students, and patients. Bilingual ability helpful.
- Experience with computers, Microsoft office, printers, calculators, fax machine, copy machine operation, and telephone operation.
- Education: Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of administrative experience in a dental office or large dental clinic, with dental insurance billing including Denti-Cal Billing.
- Knowledge of dental terminology.
- Experience using dental Electronic Health Record
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in dental education.
- Experience:
- Registered Dental Assistant or previous dental assisting experience.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- With Patient Care Coordinators manages all aspects of the Denti-cal Billing Allowance Program which includes working within the SharePoint system to ensure timely approval/denial l of requests. Organizes and expedites flow of work through the clinic systems and initiates follow-up action as needed.
