Senior Price Reporter, Iron Ore

About the Role

The Senior Price Reporter, Iron Ore, will be responsible for reporting on the markets for a key steelmaking ingredient as part of a larger team covering ferrous and nonferrous metals markets. The market reporter will gather, test and publish price information on a real-time basis, and obtain an understanding of supply-demand fundamentals from daily interactions with primary market participants. They will also carry out price assessments based on established methodology, contribute to its development, and will write and lead insightful market commentaries, news and analysis pieces.

Based in Singapore, the successful candidate will work most closely with team members there, and other locations in Asia, Europe and the Americas as part of a global team.

The successful candidate will be in a position to report on and shape coverage of markets that underpin industrialization and that are adapting to changing environmental regulations in one of the world’s most dynamic growth regions. As the industry evolves toward more sophisticated pricing mechanisms, you will also witness and be reporting at the frontline of these changes.

The candidate will work in an organization with a people-oriented culture and that has a global reach in terms of its coverage and established price assessment methodology. The Metals Pricing team offers exposure to a range of markets like iron ore, steel, ferrous scrap and nonferrous and battery metals, and an in-depth understanding of metallurgical coal and coke.

As a market reporter, you will embark on the next steps in becoming an expert and go-to person in the markets you cover.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reporting on the Asian iron ore markets daily, generating price assessments, commentaries and news stories, working as part of a team. The person will also actively engage with market participants across the region on methodology and market developments, including through in-person and virtual presentations.

The candidate will translate information gathered from the market into written content, and through presentations and other digital media. They will establish and maintain source relationships and take ownership of price reporting and methodology development for their markets, flagging changes to price trends and opportunities internally.
