Overview
Rails was founded in 2008 by Los Angeles native Jeff Abrams. Rails has grown from a small label into a full collection of women’s and men’s apparel. Sold at top international retailers and worn by a loyal following of celebrities and taste makers, the brand has defined a new classic heritage and relaxed sensibility. Rails is sold in 30 countries by more than 1000 retailers, including flagship stores in New York, San Francisco, Newport Beach, Paris, London and Amsterdam.
Rails is looking for an Accessories PD/Design Associate to support the end-to-end development of seasonal accessories collections, reporting to the Senior Accessories Designer and partnering closely with Women’s Design, Product Development, Production, and cross-functional teams to bring product from concept through bulk. This role plays a critical part in managing timelines, maintaining accurate product data, and coordinating with global factory partners to ensure products meet brand standards for design, quality, cost, and delivery.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-driven, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where precision and proactive communication are essential.
- Support the Senior Accessories Designer across the Accessories categories, including handbags, footwear, jewelry, belts, and small leather goods (SLG).
- Manage prototype corrections and communicate design and construction updates to factories throughout seasonal development.
- Ensure samples align with design intent, quality standards, cost targets, and development timelines.
- Attend fittings and partner closely with Technical Design to troubleshoot fit issues and ensure standards are met.
- Create, maintain, and update tech packs - including BOMs and construction pages, ensuring all documentation reflects the latest design and development revisions.
- Create and update seasonal line sheets.
- Manage the product lifecycle from initial sketch through production, collaborating closely with Design, PD, Production, and cross-functional partners.
- Build, maintain, and review seasonal WIPs and shared tracking tools, tracking sample requests, submissions, approvals, revisions, and overall development status.
- Communicate regularly with global vendors and factories regarding development milestones, timelines, samples, pricing, MOQs, and expectations.
- Track sample requests, submissions, approvals, and revisions to ensure development stays on schedule.
- Support the Senior Accessories Designer in launching development trials for new techniques, materials, or constructions as needed each season.
- Assist with overseas development shipments, including preparing reference materials, trims, fabrics, samples, and shipping documentation.
- Receive, check in, and organize all samples and trims by development stage and corresponding collections.
- Prepare samples and racks for internal reviews and cross-functional meetings.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
- 2-3 years of product development and/or design experience within accessories categories.
- Solid understanding of basic accessories and footwear construction.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to balance creative vision and commercial objectives.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Adobe Illustrator.
- Must be able to maintain an onsite presence at our Los Angeles office 4 days per week.
