Location: California

A Well-known fashion brand is looking for a Freelance Technicl desinger that specializes in intimates and swim. The Technical Designer supports the technical product development process and ensures consistency of fit, construction, and quality across the assigned product category. This role partners closely with Design, Product Development, and vendors throughout the development lifecycle, from initial sample review through fit approval and production readiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the technical design process across development through fit approval
  • Collaborate with Technical Design, Product Development, and Design teams to support fit direction and garment details
  • Create and maintain tech packs, including specifications, points of measurement, and garment measurements
  • Review and prepare garments prior to fittings, identifying design, specification, and construction discrepancies
  • Participate in fitting meetings and generate clear, complete fit comments with photos and updated measurements
  • Track fit approvals and sample progress; log incoming samples and schedule fittings
  • Communicate daily with vendors, Design, and Product Development teams
  • Maintain organized documentation and support general technical design processes
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required; 4-year degree in Fashion Merchandising or Design preferred
  • Experience in Technical Design, Pattern making, Quality Assurance, or equivalent hands‑on experience
  • Retail or garment manufacturing experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PLM systems
  • Basic understanding of garment fit, construction, fabrics, and fabric performance
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and provide clear feedback
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, adapt to change, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
