Primary Function:
Provide choral direction and organizational leadership for Foothills UMC Choir with collaboration and guidance from the church Music Director.
General Responsibilities:1.Selects choral anthems in consultation with Music Director and Pastor, appropriate to specific worship services, seasons, and themes several weeks in advance.
2.Coordinates and leads choir rehearsals, at least twice weekly, during choir season.
3.Provides organizational and technical direction to musicians accompanying choir.
4.Previews and orders new music as appropriate within parameters of established budget.
5.Keeps an organized and current inventory of church-owned choir music.
6.Informs choir of worship and rehearsal schedules, and other relevant information.
7.Makes a consistent effort to welcome and encourage new participation in the choir.

- Ability to foster and maintain a collaborative work ethic
- Good interpersonal skills, able to relate well to diverse personalities
- Adaptability in working with people with a wide range of musical backgrounds
- Self-initiation with proven experience constructively leading and motivating others
- Efficient utilization resources to meet necessary goals
- Ability to communicate clearly, consistently and proactively
Qualifications:
1.Previous experience in choral conducting.
2.Ability to sight-read music.
3.Ability to arrange music.
4.Personal training/experience as a vocalist.
5.Degree in music or choral conducting.(preferred)
