About Magic Story

Magic Story creates personalized children's entertainment where kids aged 3-6 become the heroes of their own adventures. We serve 50,000+ families with beautifully illustrated, Pixar-quality books delivered per purchase or monthly through our Magic Story+ subscription. We're scaling rapidly and need to dramatically increase our content production capacity.

The Role

We're looking for a generative AI expert who can help us scale book production from dozens to hundreds of unique stories. You'll use tools like Midjourney, Nano Banana, SORA, ChatGPT and other emerging image, video and writing tools to create stunning illustrations and animations that maintain our premium quality standards while allowing us to launch new books faster than ever.

This isn't about replacing artistry—it's about amplifying it. You'll work closely with our creative team to establish AI workflows that produce consistent, on-brand content our customers love.

Responsibilities Content Creation (60%)

• Create consistent character designs that work across an entire book and potentially multiple titles
• Produce background art, scene compositions, and visual effects that are of a movie studio caliber
• Develop AI-generated video content for social media and marketing
• Ensure all AI-generated content matches our premium, Pixar-quality brand standard
• Iterate quickly based on feedback from creative team and customer response

Workflow Development (30%)

• Build repeatable prompting systems for consistent character rendering
• Create style guides and prompt libraries for different book themes
• Develop quality control processes for AI-generated content
• Train team members on AI tools and best practices if needed
• Document workflows for scaling production
• Stay current on new generative AI tools and capabilities
• Experiment with emerging technologies (AI video, animation, 3D)
• Identify opportunities to improve speed and save compute without sacrificing quality
• Propose new product ideas enabled by AI capabilities

What Success Looks Like

• Production velocity: Help us 5x our book production capacity within 6 months
• Quality consistency: AI-generated content indistinguishable from our current quality
• Character accuracy: Maintain consistent character representations across books
• Workflow efficiency: Documented, repeatable processes others can follow
• Innovation: Successfully implement at least 1 new AI capability per quarter

Requirements Must Have

• 2+ years working extensively with Midjourney, DALL-E, ChatGPT, Nano Banana, SORA and other AI image and video generation tools
• Deep understanding of detailed, elaborate prompt engineering and AI model capabilities
• Experience creating content for children or family audiences (preferred)
• Strong aesthetic judgment—you know what looks professional vs. AI-generated
• Ability to work fast and iterate based on feedback
• Self-directed—you can figure things out without constant guidance

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI video tools
• Background in illustration, graphic design, or animation (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects)
• Experience with production pipelines and asset management
• Familiarity with print production requirements
• Understanding of children's book illustration conventions

Technical Skills

• Expert-level proficiency with most current image models
• Experience with AI video generation platforms
• Comfortable with image editing tools like Figma
• Ability to work with style references and maintain brand consistency
• Understanding of file preparation for print production

Immediate priorities:

• Creating illustrations for our book series addressing developmental challenges
• Establishing character design systems for personalization for multiple worlds (fantasy, video game, superhero, etc.)
• Developing background art libraries for different story settings
• Building tools for even faster and more premium personalization
