Status: Part‑time Freelance

Job Location: Remote/Southern California Area (Pacific Standard Time)

Salary Range: $45‑$60 per hour, depending on experience

The Role:

James Michelle Jewelry is looking for a Part‑time Freelance Ad Content Strategist & Video Editor. Reporting to the Director of Content and Brand Marketing, this person will bring the jewelry brand to life across paid and organic channels. We are looking for someone who is creative and analytical, skilled at concepting, producing and optimizing a high volume of compelling, targeted digital ad creative to drive performance on various social platforms and select organic marketing channels.

They will bring expertise in paid‑social best practices while serving as a creative strategist, building briefs that inspire standout creative work and leading the process to create and secure impactful content that delivers on key marketing KPIs and brand priorities. This person can balance strong creative vision with creative execution, working in partnership with marketing, design and growth teams.

What You’ll Do:
  • Concept, produce and edit high‑performing digital assets (video, photography, motion graphics), primarily for paid social ads but also for social media posts, leveraging best practices per platform to drive sales and consumer engagement on key digital touchpoints.
  • Ensure all creative is in line with the merchandising strategy and consistent with the brand’s tone, aesthetics, and overall vision.
  • Partner with the growth team to analyze performance, audience insights and trends to inform future content planning and optimize effectiveness.
  • Elevate digital concepts, design and copy through a continuous test‑and‑learn approach.
  • Build inspiring briefs for outside creatives grounded in business goals and platform best practices.
  • Contribute to organic social ideation and production/fast‑turn social edits, working closely with the social and influencer marketing team to adapt existing assets for paid and organic outlets.
  • Identify trends, formats and storytelling styles that support KPIs and general content pipeline.
What You Bring:
  • 5‑8 years of experience as a creative producer/editor and strategist at a DTC brand, agency and/or in‑house team. A portfolio with creative work is required.
  • Experience working with brands in the apparel/jewelry, beauty or adjacent lifestyle categories.
  • Proven success creating ads for Meta, Tik Tok, You Tube and other similar platforms, with a nuanced understanding of what works on each platform.
  • Mastery of digital content tools (e.g. Adobe Suite, Final Cut Pro) as well as experience with project management platforms.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills; able to translate concepts between creative and analytical with a collaborative approach.
  • Excellent product management skills—detail‑oriented, organized, efficient and proactive.
  • The ability to think strategically about content themes, testing and repurposing.
  • Comfortable with deadlines and working with multiple partners in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of creative usage and licensing (talent, music, VO).
  • Familiar with AI‑driven creative tools and a curiosity to experiment with new technologies—plus.
  • Based in the Southern California general area and available for occasional photo/video shoots.
  • Available 20‑30 hours per week and able to join weekly virtual calls.
