Inspector I: $40.52 - $51.73/hourly

Inspector II: $46.92 - $59.88/hourly

We offer employees:

  • Annual Merit Increases. Full-time employees are eligible for 5% merit increases on an annual basis until they reach the top of their pay range.

Inspector I is the entry-level class and is flexibly staffed with the full journey-level inspector II class. For advancement from inspector I to inspector II, certain proficiency criteria must be met. Typically, proficiency criteria is met within a 12- to 24-month period, depending on an individual’s prior experience and after additional skills and abilities obtained to perform the duties of an inspector II are consistently and competently demonstrated.

I/II Day to Day

Your day will consist of a diverse range of tasks. Although some of your work will require you to be in the office, much of your day will be in the field at various project sites. You will be responsible for inspecting complex, multidisciplinary public works and water construction projects and for integrating plans, details and specifications to ensure construction and contract compliance.

Liaison

and Coordination

Our inspectors act as a liaison not only between departments within the district, but between city officials, specialty inspectors, consultants and outside contractors. The projects you work on will include capital improvement projects, private development, and outside agency construction projects. The work you will typically see involves pipeline projects, reservoirs, pump stations, treatment plants, tanks, vertical construction, and modification projects.

Documentation and Conflict Resolution

The level of success on a project is highly dependent on our Inspectors’ ability to coordinate and manage project field activities, develop effective working relationships, communicate effectively, and develop and maintain accurate and timely project documentation. When issues arise, our Inspectors resolve conflicts with contractors, inspectors, and other stakeholders using sound judgment and effective communication. As the projects progress, our Inspectors verify completed work, certificates and compliance.

Assurance

It will be up to you as an Inspector to review materials, interpret survey data to verify alignment, and conduct final inspections and warranty assessments. Our inspectors coordinate necessary shutdowns, whether scheduled or emergency, to prepare pipeline activation flushing and sampling plans to ensure water quality standards are met.
