As a Construction Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the construction activities for the deployment of our fiber network. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, contractors, and local authorities to ensure the successful execution of construction projects in a timely manner.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNo responsibility for the direction or supervision of others.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Coordinate and manage all aspects of construction projects related to the deployment of the FTTx network, including site surveys, trenching, cable laying, splice closures, and fiber testing.
- Collaborate with Manager of OSP to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets for construction activities, ensuring adherence to quality standards and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, identify and resolve any issues or obstacles, ensuring projects are completed within the defined timelines.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and external agencies to ensure the availability of necessary resources, materials, and equipment for construction.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including progress reports, construction drawings, permits, and records of material deliveries and installations.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, zoning requirements, and permits during the construction process.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to address any network design changes or modifications required.
- Conduct regular meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders to provide updates on project status, resolve issues, and manage expectations.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and excellence in construction practices, promoting adherence to standard operating procedures.
Skills and Abilities
- Proven experience in coordinating and managing construction projects, preferably in the telecommunications industry or FTTx deployment.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, practices, and regulations, with a focus on fiber optic networks.
- Proficiency in project management tools and ability to monitor project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and decision making with construction‑related challenges.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation and records.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team environment, managing time and priorities effectively.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing work environments.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to quality control and take pride in ensuring high‑quality work is performed.
- Flexibility to work in rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, if required.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, with a willingness to travel to construction sites as needed.
- Contractors:
Collaborate with external contractors who are responsible for the actual construction work, such as trenching, laying fiber optic cables, equipment, and performing splicing or termination tasks. Building strong relationships with contractors is crucial for ensuring the timely and efficient completion of construction projects. - Local Authorities:
Coordinating with local authorities and government agencies to obtain necessary permits, licenses, and approvals required for construction activities. This involves communicating with city officials, utility companies, zoning boards, and other relevant authorities to ensure compliance with regulations and minimize any potential disruptions or conflicts. - Property Owners and Managers: FTTx networks often require access to private properties or buildings for the installation of equipment or of fiber optic cables.
