Position DescriptionThe Construction Inspector position will support construction inspection, working across multiple projects with a primary focus on building, roads, and bridges at various airports. Inspectors will read and interpret drawings, applicable building codes, ADA requirements, contract specifications, and shop structural drawings; verify compliance with the aforementioned contract documents; and communicate effectively with Contractors, engineers, architects, and project management staff. Documents daily progress of the work, prepare monthly progress payment requests, track changes, verify time and material work, measure and document job quantities.
Computer literacy may be required to retrieve information and manage documentation.
Job Duties
- Create and maintain comprehensive daily inspection reports that capture the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW of all construction work activities, ensuring reports are clear and concise to reflect daily progress.
- Assist in reviewing monthly progress payment requests when assigned to a program.
- Track changes, verify time and material work, measure and document job quantities.
- Conduct special inspections on various disciplines.
- Possess experience, knowledge, and understanding of methods used throughout construction.
- Building Inspectors must possess valid Los Angeles City Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) Deputy Licenses in the disciplines listed:
Reinforced concrete;
Reinforced masonry;
Structural steel and welding;
Prestressed concrete;
Sprayed applied fireproofing;
Drilled-in-anchors;
Shotcrete;
Soils/Grading;
Seismic resistance. - QC Inspectors will inspect the construction of a wide variety of airport improvements and utilities projects to ensure conformance to plans, specifications, contracts, permits, environmental documents, and agreements for work; may provide construction inspection support.
- Computer proficiency to review and utilize electronic equipment for contract documents efficiently, including change orders, submittals, RFIs, and other inspection documents, with minimal supervision.
May assume other duties as required. May be required to work various shifts, including day, swing, and night. Open to modified schedules, including nights and weekends, as dictated by project activities. Availability to work overtime as required to meet project deadlines.
Required Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent, technical school or Associate degree
- Minimum 5 years of experience inspecting buildings, roads, and/or bridge projects
- 30-hour Cal-OSHA training prior to assignment (received within the last 4 years)
- ICC certifications preferred
- Knowledge of Project Management Information Software used for inspection/document control (e.g., PM Web, Adobe Pro, Bluebeam)
- Ability to interpret construction schedules
- Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Expertise in identifying and addressing code violations, ensuring construction meets required standards
- Relevant Industry Certifications

- Confined Space Entry Training
