OverviewThe permanent, full time Analyst I will be directed by the Supervisor I in Forensic Services at the Department of State Hospitals – Atascadero (ASH).
The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to:
- Define, interpret, and process legal documents and court orders.
- Learn, understand, retain and recall a broad range of highly technical data and apply it to individual cases.
- Make arithmetical computations to determine maximum commitment date according to the Penal Code.
- Analyze, interpret, and verify Transportation Orders for accuracy and appropriate language.
- Formulate statewide procedures and policies pertaining to interhospital transfers.
- Maintain tracking databases for case management for patients referred for other state hospital transfer.
- Serve as assistant liaison with DSH-Sacramento, DSH-Administration, and other state hospitals in monitoring census tracking programs.
- Analyze and interpret Forensic evaluator reports and BPH and court orders.
- Recognize and request corrections for discrepancies as needed.
- Maintain an accurate detailed database for tracking and reporting to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for the State Authorized Risk Assessment Tool for Sex Offenders (SARATSO).

Department InformationThe Department of State Hospitals – Atascadero is a secure public sector hospital providing inpatient forensic services for mentally ill adult males who are court committed throughout the State of California. Located on the central coast of California, the Department of State Hospitals – Atascadero is in the vicinity of destination locations such as San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, and Morro Bay, with easy access to beaches, natural settings, and landmarks.
