The City of Summit seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Deputy City Clerk to support the City Clerk/Secretary to Mayor and Council and assume their duties in their absence. This position performs a range of administrative and leadership functions, including maintaining official records, coordinating public meetings, supporting elections, and processing public information requests. The Deputy City Clerk also manages supplies and financial records, and serves as a liaison with other departments and the public.
The role requires a strong commitment to public service, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing OPRA requests
- Assisting with election planning
- Composing correspondence
- Overseeing permit issuance
- Ensuring high-quality customer service
Candidates must possess three years of progressively responsible office experience in a municipal clerk’s office. Registered Municipal Clerk certification, experience with election procedures, and knowledge of Minute Traq Agenda Management software and Next Request is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and office technology is required. Applicants must be highly organized, flexible, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
