Serves as primary clerical support
Louisiana State Penitentiary (LSP) is the state’s only Class 1A facility and the only correctional facility providing custody and control of adult male inmates who have been sentenced to death.

An ideal candidate should possess the following competencies:- Accepting Direction: The ability to be open and willing to follow guidance or instructions.
- Following Policies and Procedures: The ability to follow, reinforce, adapt, or develop policies and procedures to maintain compliance with federal and state legal requirements, State Civil Service rules, and organizational policies.
- Managing Resources: The ability to manage financial, physical, and contractual resources to ensure compliance and maximize business value.
Three years of experience in administrative services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTIONEvery 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience. The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.
Job Duties- Performs responsible departmental-program duties in accordance with rules, regulations, and policies. May involve communication with other departments, customers, etc.
- Serves as liaison and/or contact person for the department or office between and amongst other departments, customers, vendors, and agencies.
- Serves as assistant to a manager, which could include keeping appointment schedule, preparing travel, issuing directives to others on their behalf, and relieving the manager of administrative matters.
- Work with adult male inmates of all custody levels – minimum, medium, maximum (death row) and protective custody.
- Work for (support) employees and inmates.
Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
- Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
- An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
- This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
