Role Overview

The Monitoring and Laboratory Division (MLD) is seeking an enthusiastic full‑time Analyst I/II to join the Division Support Section (DSS). The DSS provides consolidated administrative support to MLD and maintains the warehouse and shipping/receiving functions for the Division.

Under the direction of the Supervisor I, the Analyst serves as the Division’s Health and Safety Liaison. The Analyst works closely with the CARB Health and Safety Office to administrate the Division health and safety program, manage contracts, conduct monthly and quarterly safety inspections, track and coordinate required training, and ensure compliance with federal, State, and CARB requirements. The analyst also provides backup support to other members of the Administrative Support Branch as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Division’s Health and Safety Liaison and administer health and safety program.
  • Manage contracts and conduct monthly/quarterly safety inspections.
  • Track and coordinate required training, ensuring compliance with federal, State, and CARB requirements.
  • Provide backup administrative support to the Administrative Support Branch.
Working Conditions

This position may be eligible for hybrid in‑office work and in‑state telework. The amount of telework is at the agency’s discretion and is based on CARB’s current telework policy. Some in‑person attendance is also required. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. All employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location at their own expense, as indicated on their duty statement.

    • Salary: $4,181.00 - $5,233.00 (B)
    • Salary: $5,014.00 - $6,276.00 (C)
  • ANALYST II
    • Salary: $6,031.00 - $7,547.00
      • New-to-State candidates hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of an alternate range when applicable.

Desirable Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess prior administrative experience and demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Candidates should be collaborative, proactive in sharing knowledge and ideas, and capable of managing multiple and shifting priorities with composure. Strong organizational and project‑management skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams), and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Experience in health and safety or laboratory work is a plus.
