The Tax Processing and Accounting Division of the Employment Development Department (EDD) is looking for one individual to join the Account Services Group (ASG) as a Program Technician II (PTII).
The Program Technician II acts as a tax agent and applies the department, section, group policies and procedures in the examination and processing of new employer registration requests, account status change notices, and correspondence. Responsibilities include information gathering, account analysis, and processing forms received; initiating and answering telephone inquiries from employers and agents; assigning employer account numbers; processing account status change requests;
initiating and answering correspondence/telephone inquiries; and processing workloads related to registration and status change processes from employers and agents. The incumbent is expected to demonstrate strong technical skills in the evaluation and application of the various tax codes, rules, and regulations.
This position requires a current Program Technician II exam. Please see exam instructions in

The most competitive applicant will have experience exercising excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills. We are also seeking an individual who has experience and the ability to work independently or as part of a team, demonstrates a high level of performance, and ensures goals and timeliness are met.
All experience and education relating to the minimum qualifications listed on the classification specification should be included on your State Application (STD Form 678) to clearly demonstrate how you meet the minimum qualifications for the position.

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. California Government Code Section 14200 requires employees to reside in California to telecommute. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office, as needed.
