The Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) could be the place for you! Under general direction of the Director and Chief Deputy Director, the Analyst II performs especially difficult administrative assignments or tasks with a high degree of responsibility.

Performs administrative tasks involving research of facts on which decisions or recommendations may be based. Assignments are routinely sensitive and typically specialized. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with numerous private and government agencies, authorities, boards, and commissions, as well as the public. Essential functions of the role include providing dedicated support and assistance to the Director and Chief Deputy Director and relieves him/her of administrative detail by performing the more complex research and analysis of issues of major consequence in a fast‑paced and high performing environment.

The position also independently prepares correspondence, issue papers or presentations on sensitive and/or controversial subjects, coordinating with relevant members of the executive team. The incumbent will be expected to continually perform assessments of existing administrative systems and processes and formulate and make recommendations for new or revised administrative procedures, policies, and business processes to address any gaps, errors, vulnerabilities, or discovered issues.

Working

Conditions

The duties for this position are primarily performed indoors in an office setting in a high‑rise office building. This position requires prolonged sitting in an office-setting environment with the use of a telephone and personal computer. This position requires daily use of a copier, telephone, computer, and general office equipment, as needed. This position may require the use of a handcart to transport documents and/or equipment over 20 pounds (i.e., laptop, computer, projector, reference materials, handouts, flyers, etc.).

NOTE:

This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense.

Work Location

Hybrid telework is available for California residents under Government Code 14200. The position may also be performed in the office located in the CalEPA Building at 1001 I Street in Sacramento, CA.
