The Accounting and Automation Support Bureau is recruiting a motivated self‑starter for a challenging, exciting, and friendly environment with varied work assignments at the Accountant Trainee/Accounting Officer, Specialist level.

Accountant Trainee: Entry‑level position that learns to perform professional accounting work in the establishment and maintenance of accounts and records while receiving training. Learns agency activities, departmental systems, and central fiscal control activities; develops interpersonal skills by contact with program personnel and control agencies.

Accounting Officer, Specialist: Performs professional accounting duties, maintaining accounting records for organizational units. May have budgetary and/or business management control, exercises central fiscal control, prepares, reviews, and analyzes all types of accounts and records of financial transactions, and conducts related work.

Working Conditions

The CDSS is located two blocks from light rail and public transportation, within walking distance to the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmer’s markets, and the Golden 1 Arena. The building has easy access to I‑5, Highway 50, and Highway 80. This position is eligible for hybrid work under Governor’s Executive Order N‑22‑25 and is subject to change. Telework does not alter employment terms.

The incumbent must reside in California upon appointment.

Salary: $4,442.00 - $5,296.00
