Project Accountant

Project Accountant | Mechanical / Engineering / Construction

A growing organization in the mechanical, engineering, and construction industry is seeking a Project Accountant to support the financial management of multiple active projects from initiation through completion. This role works closely with project managers and operations leadership to ensure accurate billing, job costing, forecasting, and financial reporting across the project lifecycle.

• Manage full-cycle project billing including preparation, review, and submission of client invoices
• Track project costs, labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses to ensure accurate job costing
• Monitor project budgets and financial performance, identifying variances and supporting corrective actions
• Partner with project managers to review contracts, change orders, and financial projections
• Assist with monthly project financial reporting, revenue recognition, and forecasting activities
• Maintain accurate project financial records, ensuring compliance with internal controls and company procedures
• Support close processes by preparing reconciliations, financial schedules, and supporting documentation

• 1–3 years of accounting, project accounting, construction accounting, or related experience
• Experience working in project-based, construction, engineering, or contracting environments preferred
• Strong Excel skills with the ability to analyze project financial data and manage multiple assignments
• Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working cross-functionally with operations and finance teams
