Technical Accounting Consultant

We are supporting a growing software company seeking an experienced Technical Accounting Consultant. This role is ideal for someone with a strong audit background and hands-on technical accounting experience who can immediately add value. The consultant will work closely with executive leadership to address a backlog of complex accounting areas and support audit readiness initiatives.

Hourly Rate: $75 – $90/hr (W2)

• Evaluate and address technical accounting matters, including business combinations, stock-based compensation, foreign currency considerations, and commission memo analysis.
• Draft and review accounting memos and ensure proper GAAP treatment for complex transactions.
• Provide audit support by preparing technical documentation and working directly with external auditors.
• Assist in process improvement and internal documentation initiatives to support audit readiness.
• Contribute to broader finance initiatives, including ERP implementation support and accounting systems transitions.

• Prior experience in technical accounting and drafting white papers/memos on complex topics.
• Public accounting background from a Big 4 or national firm.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting best practices.

• Exposure to accounting for business combinations and stock-based compensation.
• Background in technology companies is helpful due to industry-specific considerations
• Comfortable working in startup environments with evolving processes and limited documentation.
• Ability to thrive in dynamic environments and contribute across multiple work streams.
