Working closely with the cross-functional teams, the Staff Accountant supports the company’s accounting operations, with a focus on month-end close, reconciliations, audit preparation, and financial reporting. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with solid accounting fundamentals, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Job functions/ Duties:- Responsible for the various aspects of the month-end close, including reconciling various GLs and preparing Journal Entries.
- Preparing monthly reconciliation and journal entries as assigned.
- Monitor and reconcile daily banking and cash transactions.
- Prepares and manages prepaid Amortization Schedules.
- Purchase Order's entries into the system
- Reconciling and preparing the payroll monthly journal entries.
- Juice reconciliation and preparing the monthly payment documents.
- Assist in the annual audit supporting documents (preparing annual audit supporting documents (PBC items).
- Other projects and duties as necessary to support our business units.
- Strong attention to detail and a great work ethic.
Experience:
- 3- 7 years of experience accounting experience
- Preferred 4 Year bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to handle diverse tasks and changing priorities.
- Possesses advanced skills in Microsoft Excel ( VLOOKUP, pivot tables, familiarity with macros), proficiency in Microsoft office.
- Ability to pick up tasks quickly with on-the-job training.
- Ability to utilize various computer software programs, specifically in a Windows environment.
- Ability to understanding of US GAAP, working knowledge of general ledger operations & experience in financial analysis.
- Ability to maintain large data files.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential functions consistent with Sunkist standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to: talk, listen and speak effectively on telephone; read, write and understand written documents and policy; sit for sustained periods of time.
- Ability to be detail oriented and accurate, as this position requires a high degree of accuracy (i.e. preparation of shipper payments, divisional invoices, etc.)
- Ability to be ethical, honest and work with integrity since this position deals with and affects the financial aspects of the organization (both in recording transactions and in reporting).
- Ability to think critically and analytically since this position requires analysis of changes in account balances as well as assessing the reasonableness and propriety of account activity.
- Ability understands, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information.
