INTERIM ACCOUNTING MANAGER

Our client, a leading entertainment studio, is currently seeking an Interim Accounting Manager to support the Home Entertainment group. This role will play a key role in reading sales contracts/deal terms and tying that back to distributor statements to identify any discrepancies or missing information. The position is a contract role projected to last at least three months with the possibility of extension.
The role is fully onsite in Los Angeles.
- Manage general ledger activities, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and month‑end close within a five‑day close cycle.
- Review, interpret, and apply sales contracts, distribution agreements, and deal terms, ensuring accurate accounting treatment.
- Tie contractual deal terms to distributor sales statements, validating units sold, revenue, reserves, and adjustments.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies when deal documentation is incomplete or missing, applying strong judgment and critical thinking.
- Analyze distributor reporting and identify variances or data gaps.
- Oversee account reconciliations using reconciliation tools and ensure timely issue resolution.
- Partner cross‑functionally with operations, sales administration, and finance teams to resolve transactional issues.
- Maintain process discipline and accuracy during periods of high transaction volume and tight deadlines.
- Navigate and leverage multiple accounting and finance systems to support close and reporting.
- Provide leadership and continuity within the accounting function during the interim coverage period.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.
- Strong entertainment accounting background required;
Home Entertainment experience a plus but not required. - Demonstrated experience reading sales contracts and deal terms and tying them back to distributor statements.
- Proven ability to operate effectively when information is incomplete, exercising sound judgment and critical thinking.
- Strong systems literacy required, including SAP (strongly preferred).
- Oracle experience a plus, as the organization is working toward implementation.
- Experience with reconciliation and AP tools (e.g., Trintech or similar platforms).
- Experience operating in a fast‑paced close environment, including a five‑day close cadence.
- Ability to work fully onsite, five days per week, in Los Angeles.
- Comfortable stepping into an interim backfill role with minimal ramp time.
