This is a full-time senior administrative and strategic support position in the City’s General Department – City Secretary’s Office. Under general direction of the City Secretary, the City Council Senior Liaison serves as the primary senior-level point of coordination between the Mayor and City Council. This position is responsible for facilitating the flow of information, coordinating Council activities and requests, and ensuring that Council members have the information and resources needed to effectively serve their constituents within a High-Performing Organization (HPO) framework.
The City Council Senior Liaison must be highly organized, politically astute, and detail-oriented, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills. The position requires sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage complex and sensitive matters involving elected officials, executive leadership, and the public.

Responsibilities- Supports the Mayor and City Council with scheduling, constituent response, administrative coordination, and event support.
- Attend all City Council meetings, work sessions, and committee meetings to track agenda items, Council actions, and requests for information or action.
- Respond to inquiries from Council members and the public regarding Council actions, policies, and procedures.
- Serve as a liaison between the Council and various City departments, boards, and commissions to coordinate activities and facilitate communication.
- Manages the Mayor’s Youth Commission program.
- Manages the Boards and Commissions program.
- Assist Council members with constituent relations, including responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and coordinating community outreach efforts.
- Perform research and provide briefings to Council members on various issues and topics as requested.
- Coordinate travel arrangements, meeting schedules, and logistics for Council members as needed.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Subject to 24 hour recall.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Knowledge of local government operations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when dealing with sensitive information.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with Council members, staff, and the public.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
- Skills in performing effectively in professional situations and execution of assigned responsibilities.
- Analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with government officials, stakeholders, and community members.
- Ability to handle confidential information in a responsible manner.
- Attendance at evening/weekend meetings, special events, and other activities as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science, or a related field; or an associate degree with a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible, related municipal government experience preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in government or a related public sector environment preferred.
- Valid Class C Texas Drivers License.
