Maintenance Engineer III

Job Summary

Performs skilled maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, HVAC and other physical structures. Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs facilities mechanical components and electrical systems in accordance with SOPs, internal requirements, manufacturer’s specifications and safety policies.

• Develops, maintains and secures a spare parts inventory of basic maintenance hand and power tools.
• Recommends purchase of maintenance tools, equipment and supplies as required.
• Assists engineers in developing methods and procedures to improve facility efficiency and workflow.
• Oversees and reviews the work of lower-level technicians.
• Attends meetings as required.
• Installs, tests, maintains and repairs machinery, equipment and systems as scheduled or needed.
• Performs utility and structural repairs as needed, alone or in collaboration with internal/external tradespersons.
• Inspects, tests and maintains records for all fire risers, sprinklers, extinguishers, fire doors and other fire/safety‑related equipment and systems.
• Moves items within/between locations and from/to storage.

• High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
• Minimum of 5 years work experience in this or a similar field.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Required certifications: 3rd Class Boilers License, Haz Mat Certification, Ice Machine Repair Certification within 6 months as incumbent.
• Preferred: journeyman license in plumbing, HVAC, electrical or other relevant skilled trade.
• Completion of at least 2 approved trade–related training courses.
