Position Overview
Open AIR, an international place-based artist residency program based in Missoula, MT, seeks a dynamic and organized individual with a passion for the arts to coordinate and support residency programming. The Program Coordinator will oversee the artist residency program, exhibitions, public events, and program internships while working closely with the Executive Director and Open AIR team to ensure program success. This role is hybrid, with opportunities to work remotely, though in-person meetings, office hours, public programming, and travel within Western Montana will be required.
The Program Coordinator should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment, interfacing with artists, community partners, and stakeholders.

- Strong interest in contemporary art and artist residencies.
- Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple timelines and deadlines.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal, and public speaking).
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in arts administration, programming, event coordination, or nonprofit management.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive). Experience with Mailchimp and Squarespace, Jotform, and a willingness to learn AI is a plus.
- Familiarity with Western Montana is a plus.
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend work, and communicating with artists outside of office hours.
- A sense of humor and enthusiasm for working in a small, collaborative, evolving organization!
- Strong candidates include those who are creative, humble, resourceful, diligent, community-minded, and cooperative.
- Schedule:
32–40 hours per week, with some evenings and weekends required during residency sessions - Location:
