POSITION SUMMARY

The CEO will be responsible for leading and directing clinic and surgery center operations and related lines of business. The CEO will provide the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the practice and surgery center has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively grow the businesses and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency.

PRIMARY

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serves on the governing board of Missoula Bone & Joint (MBJ) and is responsible for developing and implementing MBJ’s mission, vision, goals, strategies, board priorities and strategic plan
  • Provides leadership in developing, planning and implementing MBJ’s business plans with the Board of Directors
  • Recommends, develops, implements, and updates strategic long- and short-range plans to support MBJ’s philosophy and goals
  • Informs Board about current trends, problems and changes with legislative issues to facilitate policy-making
  • Establishes, secures approval and oversees MBJ’s operating policies, procedures and reimbursements
  • Executes strategic plan
  • Defines and identifies system implementation
  • Coords the monitoring of quality health care with the Board, medical staff and other MBJ personnel, and recommends changes for Board approval
  • Oversees efforts of medical and administrative staff in the recruitment, development and performance evaluation of employees
  • Oversees the business and financial affairs of MBJ and fiscal management including accounting, budgeting, internal controls and timely reporting
  • Reports to the Board on all financial results
  • Delegates authority, responsibility and establishes accountabilities to management team members
  • Develops improved management techniques and practices
  • Spearheads the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes
  • Responsible for overseeing human resource policy and implementation along with training and development for all employees
  • Enhances operational effectiveness, emphasizing cost containment without jeopardizing important innovation or quality of care
  • Ensures MBJ’s compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies
  • Continually monitors operations, programs, and physical properties; initiates appropriate changes
  • Responsible for strong public relations and marketing programs to increase revenue and to maintain Board awareness
  • Represents MBJ in its relationships with other health organizations, government agencies, and third-party payers
  • Serves as liaison and channel of communication between MBJ’s Board and its committees, the medical and administrative staff
  • Resolves any medical-administrative problems and keeps lines of communication open with MBJ staff to ensure high employee morale and a professional, healthful atmosphere
  • Serves as primary contact for legal, accounting and consultative engagements
  • Provides detailed analysis to the Board for all capital expenditures, growth opportunities and cost reductions
  • Provides agenda and facilitates all Board meetings
  • Represents MBJ concerning compliance, audit or regulatory reviews or actions

The CEO will have earned a bachelor’s degree, with a strong preference for an advanced degree, from an accredited college or university. The degree should be in a relevant genre (healthcare management, business management, financials, etc.).

Medical group management experience of at least 3-5 years with a track record of success (EMR, Compliance, larger group independent group); familiar with orthopedic practice issues; prefer Board management expertise; budget, real estate and capital investment experience; extremely knowledgeable regarding insurance and government reimbursement;
Human Resource experience that includes, directly or indirectly: training and development, laws and regulations, compensation and benefits, recruitment; a proven history of improving business practices and processes; track record of building and maintaining effective teams; prefer experience in a practice of at least 120 employees; experience working collaboratively with hospitals and other business partners; a proven history of being successful in “change management”;

experienced in interpreting contracts and agreements; strong negotiation skills with results; preferred connection to the region
