Position: Field Service Engineer I - Part-Time

Position Summary

This intermediate‑level, part‑time field position involves testing, calibration, verification, preventive maintenance, installation, and repair services on a variety of equipment, including laboratory instrumentation, medical testing devices, kiosk equipment, power three‑phase high‑voltage UPS and distribution equipment, and other EMSAR and client equipment. The role represents EMSAR to clients and requires a professional, efficient, and courteous demeanor.

Responsibilities
  • Provide on‑site preventive maintenance, repairs, performance verifications, calibrations, and software/hardware upgrades on supported equipment.
  • Offer intermediate‑level engineering support and service work.
  • Follow quality practices specified by EMSAR and product vendors.
  • Manage and complete assigned work orders in EMSAR’s Computerized Management System platform, Servicemax (approximately 25% of daily duties).
  • Perform additional duties as needed and/or assigned by supervisor/manager.
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times, including dress, personal appearance, tools, and equipment.
  • Control and maintain all EMSAR assets, including tools, parts, and test equipment needed to perform work tasks.
  • Promote teamwork and cooperation between EMSAR associates and partner staff.
  • Work regularly with the appropriate dispatcher for work assignments.
  • Operate onsite at dedicated client facilities.
  • Provide on‑the‑job support to entry‑level technicians.
  • Apply appropriate quality system processes.

  • Analytical ability to read and interpret technical instructions, safety manuals, service manuals, policies, and procedures.
  • Relies on clear instructions and pre‑established guidelines to perform job functions.
  • Possesses intermediate‑level technical skills in field service.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills that foster positive internal and external relationships.
  • Strong planning and organizing skills, able to prioritize activities and use time efficiently.
  • Keen knowledge of commonly‑used concepts, practices, and procedures relevant to field service engineering.
  • Works independently with occasional direct supervision.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent; 2–4 years of technical experience; valid driver’s license and liability insurance; ability to drive personal, fleet, and/or rental vehicles.
  • OR associate's degree or higher and/or trade school degree with 1+ years of technical experience (internship, externship, apprenticeship acceptable); valid driver’s license and liability insurance; ability to drive personal, fleet, and/or rental vehicles.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Extensive periods of sitting at a computer terminal to document services.
  • Extensive periods of standing and walking while performing services.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, and stair climbing.
  • Use of both hands without restriction; manipulate small hand tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 125 pounds without assistance.
  • Regional day and overnight travel required.
