Position

Summary

Operates, repairs, and maintains stationary equipment including boilers, generators, and refrigeration in buildings, plants or industrial facilities. Ensures that equipment is operating safely and within established limits.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent - Required
  • Must have or obtain a 3rd Class Boilers License within 6 months of hire. Licenses in other related trades are not required but encouraged.
  • Minimum of 1-year work experience in this or a similar field.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Basic understanding of tools and how to use them, along with a solid mechanical aptitude.
  • The ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
Essential Functions
  • Conducts monitoring and failure analysis of meters, gauges and controls to determine the need for repair or replacement of parts.
  • Develops, maintains and secures a spare parts inventory of basic maintenance hand and power tools.
  • Recommends purchase of maintenance tools, equipment and supplies as required.
  • Assists engineers in developing methods and procedures to improve facility efficiency and workflow.
  • Oversees and reviews the work of lower-level technicians.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Installs, tests, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, and systems as scheduled or needed.
  • Performs utility and structural repairs as needed, alone or in collaboration with internal/external tradespersons.
  • Inspects, tests, and maintains records for all fire risers, sprinklers, extinguishers, fire doors, and other fire/safety-related equipment and systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
