The power generation market continues to grow and evolve as strong capacity demand signals have existed for over a decade. We are seeking a qualified Senior Electrical Power Engineer to help our clients develop, contract, and implement natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects while serving as Owner’s Engineer and/or Advisor.

Responsibilities
  • Lead teams for power generation design projects in utility-scale power and renewable energy, including support in a traditional Owner’s Engineer role.
  • Mentor engineers, support client relationships, and lead marketing activities including proposal technical writing, fee development, and work breakdown structure development in response to RFPs.
  • Perform design and engineering work for power plant systems (power generation and distribution, protection and motor control design, power system studies, construction and equipment specification development, and balance-of-plant design such as raceways, lighting, and grounding); serve as engineer of record as needed.
  • Direct the activities of other engineering professionals and mentor staff as needed.
  • Travel expectations: less than 10% travel for client meetings, vendor visits, and project site visits.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with an Electrical Power emphasis
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Control Systems Engineering with an Electrical Power emphasis
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical power generation design
  • Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation
  • Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm desired
  • Excellent communication, written and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently, as a lead on a multi-discipline consulting team, or as a lead on a small team
  • Extensive knowledge of three-phase electrical power, protection and control design and settings development, system grounding, physical design, and experience with lighting and grounding design, instrumentation and control, and life safety systems
  • Ability to work with Project Manager and Project Controller on project reviews with management as needed
  • Direct the activities of other engineering professionals and mentor staff as needed
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience
  • Professional Engineers (PE or P.Eng) license
  • Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Auto Pipe, and Revit)
