Construction Technician Specialist

BASIC JOB SUMMARY

This role is essential to the construction and maintenance of aerial and buried plant facilities. The position requires a solid understanding of industry standards, practices, and protocols, as well as a variety of construction tasks. You will leverage your experience, judgment, and established guidelines to execute job functions effectively.

• Engage in the construction of copper and fiber optic installations, as well as repair and maintenance tasks.
• Ensure vehicles and equipment are well-maintained.
• Load and unload materials needed for construction, maintenance, and teardown projects, operating a personal vehicle; a commercial driver's license may be required.
• Adhere to all standard operating procedures to enhance safety, including the use of necessary safety gear on all job sites.
• Follow safe work practices in accordance with the TEC safety handbook and OSHA guidelines.
• Operate various construction machinery such as backhoes, mini tracks, cable plows, trenchers, bucket trucks, and other equipment. Must possess the ability to back trailers and load/unload equipment safely.
• Utilize online mapping tools and GIS systems effectively.
• Manage facilities through our Facilities Management (FM) system, including the updating and closing of trouble tickets and service orders using online computer systems. Proficiency in computer operations for processing these tickets and orders is required.
• Be responsible for maintaining adherence to standard operating procedures to ensure the safety of all team members.

Education/

Experience:

A solid understanding of telephone plant construction and associated equipment is essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills, typically attained through the completion of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience, are required, along with approximately two years of general construction experience.
