General Description
As an Aircraft Mechanic II, the candidate will be responsible for performing a diverse range of maintenance, troubleshooting, and servicing tasks on various aircraft components, ensuring optimal functionality and safety. The role involves working with complex systems and components, including engines, propeller systems, and control systems, across multiple platforms. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Engine and Component Maintenance:
Assist with and, when applicable, independently perform complex engine removals, dis‑assembly, assembly, installation, repair, and testing for various engine types and their associated components, ensuring compliance with all technical and safety standards. - Detailed Aircraft Maintenance:
Execute daily and detailed maintenance actions on aircraft engines and related systems, including preservation and proper storage procedures. Follow all technical manuals and operational procedures to ensure the aircraft's optimal performance. - Technical Documentation and Guidance:
Read, interpret, and apply service guidance such as job guides, technical manuals, engineering drawings, and schematics. Provide technical input and recommendations to improve work instructions, procedures, and processes. Actively participate in the developmental process to enhance maintenance procedures. - Independent Work on Complex Tasks:
Work independently and with minimal supervision, using technical documentation, engineering drawings, and standard operating procedures to complete tasks. Be able to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve maintenance issues efficiently and safely. - Team Leadership and Training:
Assist and support modification team leads and supervision as necessary. - Collaboration and Workflow Support:
Collaborate effectively within a team environment, ensuring efficient workflow and task assignment management. Support supervisory staff in prioritizing and managing daily work schedules and maintenance tasks. - Tool and Equipment Usage:
Safely operate a wide range of complex hand tools, pneumatic and power tools, as well as overhead hoists, forklifts, and common ground support equipment such as GPU (Ground Power Units) and Tow Tractors. Maintain high standards of safety and operational efficiency. - Inspection and Quality Control:
Conduct in-process inspections during assembly and post-installation to ensure compliance with all technical safety requirements. Ensure that all repairs and installations meet the required specifications and standards for both quality and safety. - Foreign Object and Debris (FOD) Control:
Perform Foreign Object and Debris (FOD) inspections and adhere to the "Clean as You Go" policy to maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment. Identify and eliminate any potential hazards to prevent aircraft damage and ensure mission readiness. - Additional Responsibilities:
As a critical member of the team, be prepared to take on additional duties as assigned by supervision, contributing to the overall success of the maintenance program and operational efficiency. - Travel Responsibilities:
Travel may be required up to 25% of the time, including both domestic and international locations, to support operational needs, aircraft maintenance, and mission‑critical assignments. Flexibility and adaptability to travel schedules are essential.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate's degree or graduation from a technical school preferred.
- Prior formal training, whether military or commercial, with documented evidence preferred.
- Navy Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) qualification preferred.
- F/A‑18 E/F/G Taxi/Turn Operator qualification preferred.
- A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) license preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance/repair of engine and turboprop components on aircraft.
- Experience with corrosion control and preventive maintenance techniques.
- Demonstrated proficiency in pre‑flight, thru‑flight, and post‑flight maintenance inspections.
