Pay Rate: $30–$40 per hour
Stratosphere Quality is seeking an experienced CMM Operator to support a customer project in Shannon, MS. This role is employed by Stratosphere Quality and deployed to a customer site to perform dimensional inspection, measurement, validation, and reporting activities.
The CMM Operator serves as a technical representative of Stratosphere Quality, ensuring all measurement activities comply with customer requirements, Stratosphere Quality Quality Management Systems, and applicable ISO standards.
Essential Job Function Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform dimensional measurement and inspection of products and fixtures using CMM equipment
Create, edit, and maintain CMM programs in accordance with customer and Stratosphere Quality requirements
Generate dimensional inspection and validation reports per customer specifications
Conduct dimensional verification of fixtures and finished goods
Perform dimensional validation of components for new projects and ongoing production
Support dimensional problem-solving efforts in production and quality environments
Assist with calibration management activities and documentation
Maintain calibration records, statistical studies, and metrology documentation in alignment with SQ Quality Systems
Ensure proper use, care, and conservation of CMM equipment, gauges, and masters
Support training efforts with customer quality and production teams regarding measurement techniques and equipment care
Support statistical studies including Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
Interpret engineering drawings and specifications for accurate measurement application
Support reverse engineering activities where applicable
Follow ISO guidelines and support ISO 17025 compliance activities as applicable
Assist in the development and implementation of inspection, calibration, documentation, and data retention processes
Provide technical guidance to customer engineering teams and suppliers regarding measurement conformity and non-conformity
Create and maintain documentation supporting customer and Stratosphere Quality Quality Management Systems
Adhere to all Stratosphere Quality policies, safety requirements, and customer site procedures
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred (Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Quality, or similar)
2–5 years of experience in metrology, calibration, or quality assurance
Hands‑on experience programming and operating CMM equipment
Strong understanding of dimensional measurement and print interpretation
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
Strong mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, and basic trigonometry
Ability to manage multiple metrology tasks simultaneously
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accurate documentation
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
