Position OverviewSeeking a Quality Control Manager or Quality Control Engineer to support and manage quality control activities at two manufacturing facilities. This position is responsible for ensuring that fabricated products comply with approved drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
The role requires direct, hands‑on involvement in shop‑floor inspections, including physical measurement and verification of fabricated components. The position works closely with Production, Engineering, and Management teams to monitor quality throughout the manufacturing process, address non‑conformances, and support consistent and compliant quality execution across both facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Implement and maintain quality control procedures and inspection practices for fabricated products.
- Perform hands‑on inspections and physical measurements of fabricated parts and assemblies using appropriate measuring and inspection tools.
- Verify dimensional accuracy, weld quality, workmanship, and compliance directly on the shop floor.
- Perform and oversee in‑process and final inspections prior to product release and shipment.
- Review and approve inspection records, reports, and quality documentation.
- Identify, document, and manage non‑conforming material, including coordination of corrective and preventive actions.
- Support root‑cause analysis and follow‑up on corrective actions in coordination with Production and Engineering.
- Coordinate customer, third‑party, and internal inspections and audits.
- Verify incoming materials for compliance with drawings, specifications, and applicable requirements.
- Maintain quality records in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.
- Provide guidance and technical support to quality inspectors and shop personnel regarding quality and inspection requirements.
- Support audit readiness and compliance with certification and customer quality requirements.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, rework reduction, and process consistency.
- Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certificate (proof required).
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related technical field or equivalent manufacturing quality experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a quality control or quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience working directly in a shop or plant environment, performing inspections and measurements.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Experience in fabricated steel, plate work and duct work fabrication, structural steel, and heavy manufacturing including rolling, forming, fit‑up, welding, and inspection of plate‑based and ducted assemblies.
- Experience in an ASME code fabrication or pressure vessel environment strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting customer or third‑party inspections.
- Familiarity with welding and fabrication codes and standards, including:
- AWS D1.1 – Structural Welding Code
- ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section IX
- AISC Code of Standard Practice and related AISC requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Supervisory or lead experience within a quality or inspection team.
This position requires regular and active presence on the shop floor, including standing, walking, and performing physical inspections and measurements in a manufacturing environment. Occasional travel between both facilities is required (
