Job SummaryLocation:
Purvis, MS. The Painter position is based at the Purvis, MS plant with operations across the U.S. It has overall responsibility for preparing surfaces, applying paint coatings, and assembling components of shed buildings and truck accessories to produce finished products that meet quality standards and exceed customer expectations. This position reports directly to the Covers Manager and has no direct reports.
- Prepares surfaces of shed buildings and truck accessories for painting by sanding, cleaning, and applying primers or sealers to ensure proper adhesion and finish quality.
- Inspects surfaces for defects, imperfections, or damage, and makes necessary repairs or adjustments to achieve smooth and uniform finishes.
- Applies paint coatings to prepared surfaces using spray guns, brushes, or rollers, ensuring even coverage, proper thickness, and adherence to product specifications.
- Mixes and matches paint colors to achieve desired shades and finishes, following color codes, formulas, or customer preferences.
- Inspects painted surfaces for quality, including color consistency, texture, and finish, and makes necessary adjustments or corrections to meet quality standards.
- Documents and reports any quality issues, defects, or non-conformities to supervisors or quality control personnel for resolution.
- Maintains and cleans painting equipment, including spray guns, brushes, and mixing tools, to ensure proper functionality and prevent contamination of paint coatings.
- Performs routine maintenance tasks, such as changing filters, lubricating parts, and calibrating equipment, to optimize performance and extend the lifespan of painting equipment.
- Adheres to safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), handling of hazardous materials, and safe operation of painting equipment and machinery.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area, including storage of paints, solvents, and equipment, to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.

Requirements Competencies- Knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation methods, and paint mixing procedures, including familiarity with tools, equipment, and materials used in the painting process.
- Attention to detail and quality, with the ability to follow instructions, work independently or as part of a team, and prioritize tasks to meet production deadlines.
- Physical stamina and strength to lift and maneuver heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks in a fast‑paced production environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in painting or related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a painter, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in painting shed buildings, automotive parts, or similar products.
