Job Overview
Position:
Nurse Practitioner (6 hours a week)
Location:
Mississippi Job Corps Center, 400 Harmony Road, Crystal Springs, MS.
Contractor:
Adams and Associates, Inc. (contracting for the U.S. Department of Labor).
- Active license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of MS.
- Experience in providing NP/PA health services for adolescents and young adults who are socially and economically disadvantaged.
- Support the Physician in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Total Center Health and Wellness Program.
- Advise the Center Director and Wellness Services staff on all medical and health matters, including staffing requirements, medical separations, diagnoses, prognoses, and future care recommendations.
- Consult with center staff on ordering, accounting for, and safeguarding health equipment, supplies, and medications.
- Prioritize health needs and set program direction in accordance with Job Corps requirements, coordinating with the health and wellness manager, center dentist, and mental health consultant.
- Develop a system to promote coordination among medical, oral health, mental health, environmental health, and health education components.
- Provide advice and assistance to health education instructors on implementing the health and wellness program and promoting health outside the clinic.
- Ensure maintenance, confidentiality, and safeguarding of all health records and issue signed, dated health care guidelines.
- Stay current on Job Corps policies and procedures via frequent communication and review of the Job Corps Health and Wellness website.
- Provide direct medical services to students, including a preliminary medical inspection within 48 hours of arrival and a definitive medical examination within 14 days.
- Diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries, and be available on center for acute visits.
- Arrange preventive immunizations and control communicable diseases as specified by PRH-6 and TAG
B. - Provide referrals for specialist and institutional care, maintaining follow‑up information.
- Maintain a 24‑hour emergency back‑up coverage system.
- Find and arrange for a qualified replacement during temporary absences of more than one calendar week.
- Maintain malpractice insurance with limits of at least $1 million per occurrence.
- Make no public statements regarding activities under this subcontract without prior written approval.
- Be personally and financially liable for costs of any patient referral outside the Center without prior written approval.
- Provide current copies of all professional licenses, certifications, and professional liability insurance documents required by the Center.
