The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is recruiting for an Accountant II within the Office of Finance and Accounting. This Time-Limited position will be responsible for organizing documentation related to the FEMA reimbursement process for agency expenses. Employees at this level apply professional and technical accounting knowledge to undertake analysis and interpretations of financial information and data in accordance with general and government accounting practices and principles.
Accountable for working under the guidance or within the framework of established processes, systems, practices, and regulations, and applying those to perform work, research information, and make evaluations and recommendations. This position will be responsible for assisting with the enhancement of the FEMA reimbursement process for the Agency.
*** Please note this position is with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and ALL MEMA’s positions can be called back to work outside the standard work schedule. A drug screen and background check may be required for hires and promotions. Additionally, a credit check may be conducted for individuals responsible for financial, human resources, and information technology matters. If you are recommended for hire or promotion, you may need to submit proof of the credentials (such as a license, certificate, or official transcript) listed on your State of Mississippi Application.

Preferred QualificationsTypically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 2-4 years of experience and/or appropriate certification.
