Co-op (Trainee). Position located in Ackerman, MS is responsible for completion of engineering projects. Position available for Fall 2026.
- Perform staking for overburden removal.
- Calculate volumes moved by mining equipment.
- Stake and survey drill holes and piezometer locations.
- Perform CAD applications.
- Perform spreadsheet applications as required.
- Complete reserve quantity and quality comparisons versus projected mine plan.
- Assist Staff Engineer in managing contracts for both land surveying and construction projects.
- Maintain land and property database.
- Collect data and design testing procedures for dust control on roads.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations. (MLMC supplied training)
- Knowledge and understanding of computer technology and software applications. (Word, Excel, etc.)
- General understanding of electronic surveying equipment.
- Knowledge and ability to perform CAD applications.
- Knowledge and ability to perform spreadsheet applications.
- Knowledge and ability to use mathematics in calculation of field data and calculation of volumes.
- Good verbal and written communications skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
Prefer a minimum of one year of undergraduate studies in Civil or Mining Engineering.
Studies in a related Engineering field will be considered.
Prefer students that are currently a Sophomore or Junior.
Will consider applicants majoring in Ag. Tech, Building Construction Science Program, Mining Engineering and Civil Engineering.
* Potential to receive Pt.107 Drone License.
