Mississippi ExCEEDS - Expanding and Cultivating Educational Excellence through Direct Service - members will serve as learning mentors to middle and high school students in local summer programs. Learning mentors will empower today's youth through skill-building strategies that help students stay engaged, build confidence, and achieve academic success. Serving on average 40 hours a week for 2 months, you will be paired with specific students to conduct daily 1-on-1 learning sessions and small group student support sessions.

Member Duties :
Minimum Time Summer Members serve a minimum of 300 hours, or on average 35-40 hours per week. Learning mentors are paired with specific students and for each student in their portfolio, will facilitate up to five (5) 60- minute small- group skill - building sessions per week in addition to up to two (2) 30 minute 1- on- 1 support sessions per day.

LMs will create and maintain a Learning Engagement Plan for each student in their portfolio. LMs will compile and track student data including goals, progress and skill attainment. The LEP will include observational data from members, site staff, and from student input. LMs will use data from LEPs to plan future session activities based on skill and concept sequencing. Members are required to participate in pre-service and on-going training sessions, and days of service throughout their year of service.
