Summer Camp Intern 2026 - Temporary Employee
Reports to:
Project Manager
Join the Delta Health Alliance (DHA) for a summer of hands-on learning and community impact. As a Promise Community Summer Intern, you'll help implement programs that connect education, health, and opportunity for children and families in the Mississippi Delta. This is more than a summer job - it's a leadership and service-learning experience that blends public health, policy, education, and community advocacy.
You'll gain skills in program delivery, teamwork, and communication while making a lasting impact on one of the nation's most historic and resilient regions. Summer Camp Interns will assist in implementing summer programming alongside a trained DHA staff member. Summer Camp Interns will work 30 - 35 hours a week
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Enrolled in a valid full-time college program
• Ability to follow directions of mentor and carry out duties in a responsible manner
• Must have a valid Driver's License and proof of insurance if over 18. Personal vehicle for transportation is highly recommended.
• A positive attitude and willing to work on a team.
• All majors are welcome to apply. Ideal for students majoring in:
Public Policy, Public Health, Early Childhood Education/ Education, Sociology, Political Science, Law, Agriculture, Communications, Nonprofit Leadership, Engineering, Computer Science, Culinary Arts/Science (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Majors may receive a higher compensation for participating).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Co-lead academic, health, and enrichment projects for students in grades pre K-12, including Culinary Arts Camps and STEM Camps
• Facilitate activities in literacy, STEM, agriculture, and character development
• Support community initiatives in youth development, food access, and health equity
• Capture impact stories through photos, journaling, and digital media
• Participate in leadership development and reflection sessions
• Collaborate with educators, community partners, and DHA mentors
• Experience how education, public health, and policy intersect in a rural region
• Build career-ready skills for graduate school, law school, or nonprofit leadership
• Network with community leaders, health professionals, and local advocates
• Learn in one of America's most culturally rich and socially significant regions
• Help shape a more equitable future for Delta youth
