Temporary Full-Time
Pay Rate: $450.00 per week
This position is responsible for:
Plans, coordinates, and directs the functions of the Conservatory Music program; ensures the quality of programs and the safety of youth at all times; provides guidance and role modeling to youth; and ensures a safe, positive experience for campers.
Key Responsibilities- Provides quality music instruction to campers.
- Teaches music theory as it applies to the appropriate level for playing purposes.
- Provides appropriate lessons for instruction time.
- Reviews assigned homework with students and re‑teaches skills if necessary.
- Be responsible for the care of instruments during class, with necessary repairs immediately reported to the Divisional Music Director.
- Prepares students for recitals and concerts.
- Plans, schedules, assigns, and monitors the students' work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Ability to read and hear music notes.
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
- Some physical requirements of the Camp Music Instructor position could be endurance, including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching.
- Eye‑hand coordination and manual dexterity are required to manipulate music equipment and engage in activities.
- Requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and to work irregular hours, delivering a program at the facility available.
- Operate with daily exposure to the sun, heat, and varying environmental conditions.
- Six months of experience teaching music education and teaching experience, with the ability to play and teach lessons in a classroom setting involving more than one student preferred, or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- CPR and First Aid Certified
