Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager - Mississauga, the Quality Assurance Lead (Mississauga) will be responsible for providing the link between production and quality assurance during daily operations for maintenance and continuous improvement of the food safety and quality programs.
Shift: Mon - Fri - 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (fully on‑site)

- Oversees QA Technicians from both shifts on the production floor ensuring scheduled task routes are followed and task monitoring is performed consistently and to completion.
- Performs on‑site verifications of the QA Technicians’ various quality monitoring inspections.
- Assists in the pre‑requisite monitoring program which includes on‑site monitoring of programs such as pest control, foreign material, equipment calibration, and glass and brittle plastic.
- Conducts internal auditing as per program schedule, documenting all findings including any deviations found, with root cause, corrective actions and preventative measures.
- Maintains document management by performing record verification, data entry and filing.
- Assists during scheduled traceability exercises and in investigating and resolving customer complaints.
- Monitors product and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory, customer and Maple Lodge Farms specifications. Holds any non‑conforming product and aids in final disposition.
- Monitors that employees are following and are compliant with Good Manufacturing Practices, documenting all findings including any deviations found, with root cause, corrective actions and preventative measures.
- Assists in the maintenance of the Environmental Monitoring Program including testing, scheduling, tracking and trending.
- Obtains shelf life samples or regulatory samples as per schedule including sample requests to production, storage and liaison with 3rd party laboratory.
- Records all monitoring inspection activities assigned and completes documents in a timely manner.
- Takes the initiative to identify quality improvement opportunities for product or processes to QA Manager.
- Provides daily communication to the QA Manager with regards to performance of QA staff, quality of product, production process and any food safety issues.
- Supports QA Technicians on the production floor and is a backup for both shifts.
- Provides assistance as required for any internal, regulatory, customer or third‑party food safety audits.
- Lead or assist with special assignments/projects as required, including testing, data collection, tracking and trending of results.
- Prepares documents for CFIA CVS tasks and provides support for task completion, including interview.
- Policies, Processes & Procedures
- Adhere/comply with company policies and procedures.
- Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Minimum of three years quality assurance and/or research and development experience in the food industry, preferably in meat and in a unionized environment;
- Working knowledge of GMPs and HACCP;
- Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS, and all other workplace H&S regulations;
- Hands on technical orientation, with the ability to multi‑task and work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment while organizing and prioritizing workload;
