Position: Quality Assurance Coordinator (Food Industry)

Belvika Trade & Packaging Ltd. is a leading one-stop contract packaging company, specializing in precision packing of dry foods, chocolate and confectionary products from multiple facilities totaling more than 500,000 ft2. Belvika has grown to be one of the largest co-packers of chocolate, confectionary and snack products in Canada. Belvika uses its extensive experience in managing both manual processes and automated equipment to handle primary and secondary packaging of products for some of the world’s best-known confectionary brands.

Belvika is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Coordinator to maintain overall quality standards for all products packed, ensuring that the Company’s and Client’s quality specifications are met at all times. This position will be based at the Export facility located at 450 Export Blvd, Mississauga, and, when needed, must be flexible to work at the Traders facility located at 340 Traders Blvd, Mississauga.

The position works on the Day shift but must be flexible to work Day, Afternoon or Night shifts as needed.

Wage: $22.00 - $24.00 hourly based on experience

Position Summary:

  • This is a Quality Assurance Coordinator position within the Quality Department of a Co-packer in confectionary and snack food products.
  • Areas include quality element control related to operations, policy and procedure auditing, leads quality improvement projects, and drives defect prevention and detections.
  • Supports customer, government and third-party audits to meet compliance standards.
  • Organizes and reviews all QA aspects of daily production.

The successful candidate will:

  • Maintain and ensure consistent execution of current QA programs and internal SOPs, ensuring compliance with SQF, CFIA, and client requirements.
  • Ensure FPAs and NCRs are completed and submitted to customers on time.
  • Support QA Supervisor in investigating customer complaints.
  • Support compliance during client and government audits.
  • Maintain sensory guidelines for all incoming and outgoing bulk and finished goods.
  • Oversee retention samples and the storage of products for all customers.
  • Supervise the proper destruction of any food product and complete CODs as required.
  • Prepare all new product start-ups, ensuring all Belvika and client requirements are met.
  • Write, review, and implement new operating policies and procedures as directed by the QA Manager.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the quality and safety of processes.
  • Assist with updates, maintenance, and verification of company food safety and quality programs to ensure regulatory and compliance requirements are met.
  • Monitor and inspect production lines daily and review quality report forms to ensure client quality and food safety standards are being met.
  • Review shift reports daily to verify lot traceability and quality check forms are accurate and complete.
  • Conduct environmental, ATP, water, product and allergen testing as required.
  • Ensure adherence to the allergen program and verify compliance with quality and food safety standards.
  • Conduct monthly internal audits with cross-functional teams and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain and verify daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning duties and records.
  • Ensure non-conforming products are monitored, addressed promptly, and recorded in daily and monthly hold logs.
  • Oversee pest control program maintenance and liaise with operators to ensure company and regulatory standards are met.
  • Drive prevention rather than detection of defects.
  • Ensure all records are audit-ready (pest control, sanitation, environmental, mock recall, etc.).
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS), including document control, quality record archiving, employee training, and special projects.
  • Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures and work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or designate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Work experience requirements:

  • Minimum 1-year experience in quality assurance in food processing or food packaging environment.
